Three Generations of Syrup Craft

Sumerix Family Maple Syrup isn't just a business β€” it's a living tradition rooted in the forests of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. What began as a seasonal ritual passed down through our family has grown into one of the region's most trusted sources of pure, artisan maple syrup.

Every drop we produce carries the unmistakable character of our land: the crisp morning air, the ancient sugar maples that have stood for centuries, and the patience of a process that cannot be rushed. We tap only what the trees can sustainably give, and we boil each batch with the same care our grandparents brought to the sugar shack.

The Process

From Tap to Bottle

Our process honors the rhythms of nature. There are no shortcuts, no additives, and no compromises β€” just time, heat, and tradition.

01

Tapping

In late winter, we carefully drill and insert spouts into mature sugar maples, collecting the clear sap as it flows.

02

Collecting

Sap is gathered daily from the grove and transported to our sugar shack, where it's filtered and prepared for boiling.

03

Boiling

Over an open flame, sap is reduced by evaporation β€” roughly 40 gallons of sap yield just 1 gallon of pure syrup.

04

Bottling

Freshly boiled syrup is hot-filtered and immediately bottled, sealing in the flavor and aroma of the season.
